Input Shaft, Hollow Shaft, Drive Pinion and Selector Rod Assembly Overview





1 Bolt, 24 Nm

insert with locking fluid (AMV 185 101 A1).

2 Leaf spring

3 Intermediate piece

Insert in hole in transmission housing.

4 Clutch release lever

With release bearing.

5 Bolt, 24 Nm

Quantity: 2

Insert with locking fluid (AMV 185 101 A1).

6 Securing plate

For guide sleeve.

7 Guide sleeve

With seal.

Input shaft seal, removing, refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal, Removing ]

Input shaft seal, installing, refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal, Installing ]

8 O-ring

Always replace.

Coat with transmission fluid.

Insert in transmission housing surrounding groove.

9 Circlip

Insert in input shaft surrounding groove.

10 Selector rod for 5th/6th gear

Installed location, refer to => [ Installation Location of Selector Rods in Transmission ]

Replace only complete with selector fork for 5th/6th gear with pins.

11 Selector rod for 3rd/4th gear

Installed location, refer to => [ Installation Location of Selector Rods in Transmission ]

Replace only complete with selector fork for 3rd/4th gear with pins.

Change: with spring-loaded shift fork, refer to => [ 3rd/4th gear selector rod with spring-loaded shift
fork. ] , allocate via.

12 Input shaft

Disassembling and assembling, refer to => [ Input Shaft ] Input Shaft.

13 Bearing bracket

Clean threaded holes of locking compound, e.g. with a thread cutter.

Selector rod ball sleeves, pressing off and on, refer to => [ Selector Rod Ball Sleeves, Pressing Off and On ]

Outer roller bearing races on input shaft and hollow shaft cannot be replaced individually.

Roller bearing outer races must not have any radial clearance in bearing bracket.

14 Bolt, 30 Nm

Quantity: 6

Clean threads and insert with locking compound ( AMV 185 101 A1).

15 Plate

Installation position: sanded side faces toward transmission housing, fits only in one position.

16 Adjustment shim "S4"

Adjustment overview, refer to => [ Adjustment Overview ] Adjustment Overview.

17 Pinion

With double angular contact ball bearing and inner race/tapered roller bearing.

18 Needle bearing

For pinion/hollow shaft.

19 Adjustment shim "S3"

Adjustment overview, refer to => [ Adjustment Overview ] Adjustment Overview.

20 Hollow shaft

With gears for 5th and 6th gear pressed off.

21 Oil pan

22 Transmission housing

With differential and flange shafts.

Input Shaft Seal, Removing





- Carefully pry out sealing ring - arrow - with a screwdriver.

A Jaw protectors

You can also remove the sealing ring with the puller hook (T20143).

Input Shaft Seal, Installing





- Lightly oil outer circumference of seal.

- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Carefully press input shaft sealing ring on up to stop.

3rd/4th gear selector rod with spring-loaded shift fork - arrow -.





Selector Rod Ball Sleeves, Pressing Off and On





- Support bearing bracket with tube split (VW 422 ).

Place small diameter from the lock pin (2064) in ball sleeve.

- Press off previous ball sleeve.

- Press new ball sleeve onto dimension - a - approximately 4 mm.

Set ball sleeve in place with inscribed side (thicker wall) facing toward lock pin (2064).

Installation Location of Selector Rods in Transmission





1. Selector rod with reverse gear shift fork

2. Selector rod with shift fork for 1st and 2nd gear

3. Selector rod with shift fork for 3rd and 4th gear

4. Selector rod with shift fork for 5th and 6th gear
