Transmission Mount: Service and Repair






Transmission Mount and Crossmember

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A)

Wooden block

Removing

- Loosen the quick release screws - 2 - and - 3 - and remove the rear noise insulation.





The flex joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.





- Disconnect the exhaust system at both double clamps - arrows -.

- Position the plunger of the engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) with a block of wood - 1 - under the transmission.





- Raise the transmission slightly using the engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A).

- First remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -, then bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.





- Remove nuts - arrows - and slide the tunnel crossmember slightly toward the rear.





- Remove bolts - 2 - and remove the transmission mount - 1 - from the transmission.





Installing

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening Specifications

Transmission Mount - 1 - to Transmission





M8 bolts - 2 -, tightening specification: 23 Nm

Transmission Mount to Tunnel Crossmember





M8 nuts - arrows -, tightening specification: 23 Nm

Tunnel Crossmember to Chassis





Always replace the M12 bolts - 3 - and - 4 -, tightening specification : 110 Nm + an additional 90° (corresponds to one quarter turn)

M10 bolts - 1 - and - 2 -, tightening specification: 65 Nm

- Align the exhaust system so it is free of tension.
