ATF Breather Pipe
• If Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) flows out at the underside of the transmission bellhousing, the input shaft seal and/or the ATF breather pipe may be leaking. Before replacing any parts, be sure to find the actual cause of the malfunction.
• Input shaft seal must be replaced if leaking. Refer to => [ Input Shaft Seal ] Input Shaft Seal.
• ATF breather pipe must be replaced if leaking.
• Rules of cleanliness for working on transmissions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• General repair information. Refer to => [ General Repair Information ] General Repair Information.
Removing
• Transmission removed.
- Remove bolt - B -.
- Pull the ATF breather pipe - A - out of the mount.
• If a ATF leak is determined from the check hole behind the ATF breather pipe - A -, slightly below bolt - B -, the transmission is malfunctioning and must be replaced.
Installing
Installation is in the reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Insert the new ATF breather pipe - A - until it fully seats.
- Tighten the ATF breather pipe with strap and bolt - B - on the transmission housing.
