Right Drive Flange Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Extractor lever (VW681)

• Right sealing ring installer (3382)

• Drip tray (VAG1306)

Removing

- Loosen bolt drive axle/wheel hub while the vehicle is still standing on its wheels.





- Remove wheel.

- Remove heat shield for right drive axle (arrows).





Third bolt is not visible in the illustration.

- Remove right drive axle - 1 - from transmission flange and remove. Refer to

- Remove bolt for flange shaft (arrow) while securing against turning using a drift.





- Place drip tray (VAG1306) underneath.

- Remove right drive flange.

- Pull out drive flange seal.





Installing

- Coat outer edge of oil seal with gear oil.

- Drive in new seal to stop, without canting seal.





• Installation position: The open side of the sealing ring faces the transmission.

- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease G 052 128 A1.

- Install right drive flange.

- Install bolt for drive flange (arrow, 23 Nm) while securing drive flange against turning, using a drift.





- Install right drive axle. Refer to - 1 -. => Steering and Suspension Steering and Suspension





- Install heat shield for right drive axle (arrows).

Third bolt is not visible in the illustration.

- Install front wheel.

- Check oil level in front final drive. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive Gear Oil, Checking ].
