Activation of the fresh air blower ( V2), calculated fresh air blower speed, voltage at terminal " 58d" and "58s" (in %) transmitted by the instrument cluster control module (J285)

To improve speech recognition and understandability of speech input for telephone, the fresh air blower speed is decreased in vehicles as of model year 2002 (with the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head as of hardware/software version "0711"). The following applies:

- The decrease is put into effect as soon as the information " telephone speech input" is transmitted via the comfort data bus system.

- The decrease time is limited to a maximum of 2 minutes.

- The amount by which the fresh air blower speed is lowered depends on the vent direction and the fresh air blower speed at the time of receipt of the signal "telephone speech input". The higher the air amount directed to the instrument panel vents, the greater the decrease.

- In the basic setting, the fresh air blower speed at 100% air to the instrument panel vents is limited to 15% of the maximum fresh air blower speed. This limit can be increased or removed via the "Adaptation" function in adaptation channel "8". Refer to => [ Fresh Air Blower Speed Decrease, Adapting in Channel 08 ] Adaptation of A/C Control Head Climatronic Control Module

The fresh air blower control module (J126) is installed in the fresh air blower (V2) and currently cannot be individually replaced.

The activation of the fresh air blower (V2) is calculated by the Climatronic control module ( J255) A/C control head on the basis of the measured temperatures and the existing settings.

The fresh air blower speed is transmitted by the fresh air blower control module (J126) to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

The voltage at terminal "58d " for illuminating the displays is always output by the instrument cluster control module ( J285) when the ignition is on. During daylight 100% is always shown depending on the illumination falling on the photo sensor of the instrument cluster.

The voltage at terminal "58s" for illuminating the buttons (switches) is currently only output by the instrument cluster control module (J285) when the parking light is on (regardless of whether the ignition is on or off). During daylight 100% is always shown depending on the illumination falling on the photo sensor of the instrument cluster. Refer to => Vehicle diagnosis, testing, information system VAS 5051 in the "guided fault finding" function.
