Catalytic Converter with Front Exhaust Pipe

Removing

- Open the quick-release fasteners - arrows - and remove the engine cover.





- Remove right cover - 1 - in the engine compartment, if equipped.





- Disengage Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) from the air guide.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove air duct - 2 -.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 - on the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) and the connector - 5 - on the Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70).





- Disconnect the hoses - 1 -, - 4 -, - 6 -, - 7 -.

- Remove air filter housing by removing the expanding clip - 2 -.

- Remove coolant expansion tank - arrow -.





- Disconnect electrical wire from Engine Coolant Level (ECL) Warning Switch (F66) at bottom of coolant reservoir and set aside coolant reservoir with coolant hoses - 1 - and - 2 - connected.

- Disconnect the connectors - 2 - and - 5 - from the left mount on the bulkhead.





- Disconnect electrical connectors - 2 - and - 5 - and free up electrical wiring downward.

- Remove the front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter nuts - arrows -.





- Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 - and - 2 - and remove front noise insulation.





- Remove quick-release fasteners - 3 - and remove rear noise insulation, if installed.

- Remove heat shield - 1 - for right drive axle.





- Remove nut - arrow - on the front exhaust pipe strap.





Do not bend the flex joint in front of the exhaust pipe more than 10° or it could be damaged.

- Remove the threaded connections on the front clamping sleeves - arrows -.





- Push the clamping sleeve rearward to separate the exhaust system.

- Remove front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.

- Align exhaust system free of tension. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Aligning ] Procedures and => [ Exhaust System, Aligning ] Procedures.

Tightening Specifications





* Replace nuts.
