Coolant Pump

Removing

- Drain coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Bring lock carrier into service position. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] Lock Carrier, Moving Into Service Position.

• Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed turning direction can cause damage to the ribbed belt under operating conditions.

- Move tensioning element in direction of - arrow - to release the tension on the ribbed belt.





- Remove ribbed belt.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and the ribbed belt tensioner.





- Remove toothed belt from camshaft. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt, Removing from Camshaft Sprocket ] Toothed Belt, Removing From Camshaft Sprocket.

- Remove center toothed belt guard by removing the bolts - arrows -.





• The vibration damper and the lower toothed belt guard can remain installed.

• The toothed belt remains in position on the crankshaft sprocket.

• Before removing the coolant pump, cover the toothed belt with a cloth to protect it from coolant.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and remove coolant pump - 2 -.





- Remove O-ring - 3 -.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Replace O-ring.

- Clean or smooth O-ring sealing surface.

- Coat the new O-ring - 3 - with coolant additive G12+.

- Insert coolant pump - 2 -.

• Installation position: Sealing plug in housing points downward.

- Tighten bolts - 1 - of coolant pump.

- Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => [ Mount the toothed belt. ] Toothed Belt, Removing From Camshaft Sprocket.

- Install ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Install lock carrier with attachments. Refer to =>

- Place the torque support stop on the rubber buffer and tighten the nuts - arrows -.

- Install front bumper cover.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.

- Check headlamp adjustment.
