Recommended Special Tools, Workshop Equipment, Testers, Measuring Instruments and Auxiliary Items
- V.A.G 1526 portable multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter
- Adapter set V. A. G 1594
- Wiring diagram
Test Conditions
- Respective fuses must be OK
- Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 V.
- All electrical consumers such as, for example, lights and rear window defroster must be switched off.
- The parking brake must be applied, otherwise the daytime running lights are switched on.
- The Ground (GND) connections to transmission must be OK.
- Selector lever must be in "P" position.
- Ignition switched off.
Test Sequence
- Disconnect 8-pin connector - B -.
Observe safety precautions.
- Check harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.
If harness connector is not OK:
- Repair the problem.
- Erase DTC memory of TCM. Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory
- Generate readiness code. Generate Readiness Code
If harness connector is OK:
- Check wiring to TCM according to wiring diagram.
Check Wires to TCM
- Connect test box to control module wiring harness => Test Box, Connecting for Wiring Test, connect test box for wiring test.
- Check wires between test box and 8-pin connector to Transmission Control Module (TCM) for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Terminal 3 + Socket 51
Terminal 4 + Socket 39
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
- Also check wires for short circuit to each other.
Specification: Infinite Ohms
If no fault is detected in the wiring:
- Replace Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor -G182-
- Erase DTC memory of TCM. Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory
- Generate readiness code. Generate Readiness Code
