Rear Transmission Support and Transmission Mount
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Bolt M12x100 with nut
Removing
- Tunnel crossmember, removing, refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Tunnel Crossmember
- Remove the left and right transmission supports (shown on the right side in the illustration) from the transmission with the transmission mounts (3 bolts)- arrows -.
A Socket wrench
• In order to reach all fastening bolts for the transmission supports on the transmission, if necessary lightly press down on the back of the transmission. Watch out for the shift selector cable.
Attaching and Removing the Transmission Mount and Transmission Supports
- Note the installed position of the transmission mount - B - on the transmission supports - arrow 1 - with, for example, a felt-tip marker.
- Tighten transmission supports - A - with transmission mount in a vise with protective jaws.
- Remove the transmission mount bolts - E -.
- Attach the new transmission mount to the transmission supports so that the narrow side - arrow 2 - of the transmission mount faces outward. Otherwise the transmission mount must be placed on the marking (notation from removal).
• In order to ensure the exact installation position of the transmission mount, follow these steps:
- First hand-tighten the transmission supports with transmission mount onto the transmission.
- Next, check the bolt holes for the fastening bolts in the tunnel crossmember - D -.
- If necessary, align the transmission mount once more with the transmission supports to avoid stress.
