Selector Shaft Seal






Selector Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pry Lever - RMV Outside Mirror (80 - 200)

Thrust Piece (T10135)

Removing

- Move the selector lever into P.

- Lift the vehicle.

- Remove both rear sound insulators, loosening the bolts - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 -.





- Remove shield from lever/selector shaft.

- Remove the selector lever cable ball socket - 1 - from the selector shaft lever - 3 - using the (80 - 200)





Do not bend the selector lever cable.

- Remove the spring pin - 1 - on the selector shaft lever - 2 - - arrow - until it is possible to remove the lever from the shaft.





- Pierce shaft seal with a small screwdriver and pull out.





Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

- Lubricate outer circumference and space between sealing lips with ATF.

Installed position: Open side of shaft seal faces transmission.

- Press new shaft seal onto selector shaft.

- Press on new shaft seal as far as the stop using (T10135) and assembly lever - A -, ensuring shaft seal does not distort.





Place a non-slip pad between the assembly lever and the subframe - arrow -, for example, a piece of rubber, so that the assembly lever cannot slide out with pushing.

- Install the spring pin on the selector shaft lever while it is still removed.

- Slide selector shaft lever onto shaft and drive in spring pin.

- Install shield on lever/selector shaft.

- Press the selector lever cable - 1 - onto selector shaft lever - 3 -.





Do not bend selector shaft lever when pressing on, otherwise shift mechanism can no longer be adjusted exactly.
