Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory, Checking

- Connect VAS 5051 scan tool and select the control module for engine electronics using "address word" 01. Engine must be running at idle. Connecting VAS 5051/VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST)

NOTE: If the engine will not start, crank it for at least 5 seconds with the starter and then leave ignition on.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Under -1- select diagnostic function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory".

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Content of the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory:
- 0 Faults recognized
or
- X Faults recognized
2 - DTCs
- DTC code
- DTC location
- DTC type

A - If malfunctions were recognized:
- Print out screen content or On Board Diagnostic (OBD) report.
- Exit function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory" by pressing <- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Repair malfunction(s) as specified in DTC table.
- Reselect diagnostic function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory" and erase DTC memory.
- Select diagnostic function "06 - End output" in selection. Ending Output (Function 06)

B - If no malfunction was recognized:
- Select diagnostic function "06 - End output" in selection. Ending Output (Function 06)

NOTE:
- If there are no DTCs in DTC memory, DTC memory should not be unnecessarily erased otherwise the readiness code will be lost and must then be regenerated.
- If DTC memory was erased, readiness code must be re-generated Readiness Code, Generating
