Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

- Remove driveplate, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain





- Pry out oil seal with extractor 10-221.
- Clean running and sealing surfaces.
- Lightly lubricate inner sealing lip and outer rim of seal with engine oil before pressing in.





- Press in oil seal as far as possible using seal installer 2003/3 and driveplate mounting bolts.

NOTE: If the replacement seal has been supplied pre-installed in a new flange:
^ Use the seal installation aid supplied in the repair kit
^ Install the flange (with seal) using a new gasket.
^ Tighten flange mounting bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
