Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

NOTE:
^ Always replace the seal with the flange, if available.
^ Drain engine coolant before removing flange.
^ Replace only seal as described below if oil seal with flange is not available.

REMOVAL
1. Remove clutch and flywheel, or drive plate, as necessary.





2. Pry out oil seal with extractor tool No. 10-221, or equivalent.
3. Clean running and sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Do not oil sealing lip or outer edge of seal before pressing in.





1. Using assembly aid supplied with new oil seal, slide seal onto crankshaft.
2. Press in oil seal as far as possible using seal installer tool No. 2003/3, or equivalent, and flywheel or drive plate mounting screws.
3. Reverse remaining removal steps to install.
