Propeller Shaft Removal




Propeller Shaft Removal

1. Raise and support the vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove exhaust pipe B and the muffler Service and Repair.

3. Place a transmission jack under the No. 2 propeller shaft.

4. Make reference mark (A) across the No. 1 propeller shaft (B) and the transfer companion flange (C).





5. Remove the No. 1 propeller shaft flange nuts (D).

6. Make reference mark (A) across the No. 3 propeller shaft (B) and the rear differential companion flange (C).





7. Remove the No. 3 propeller shaft flange bolts (D).

8. Remove the No. 1 and the No. 2 center support bearings mounting bolts.

9. Move the propeller shaft (A) toward the rear differential, then lower the propeller shaft assembly on the jack.

NOTE: Secure the shaft to the transmission jack with a tie down to prevent it from rolling off.
