Symptom Troubleshooting




Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (without navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Measure the voltage between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.

NO -

Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal / Installation.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

6. Disconnect these items:

- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)

7. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.

9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and audio unit connector C (14P) according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the XM receiver and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

10. Remove the center console panel Center Console Panel Removal / Installation.

11. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.

12. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector C (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 13.

13. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector C (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 14.

14. Reconnect these items:

- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)

15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

16. Turn on the audio unit.

17. Press the AUX button several times.

Is the display changed to other mode?

YES -

Replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation.

NO -

Go to step 18.

18. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

19. Disconnect USB adapter control unit connector A (14P).

20. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

21. Turn on the audio unit.

22. Press the AUX button several times.

Is the display changed to other mode?

YES -

Replace the USB adapter control unit USB Adapter Control Unit Replacement.

NO -

Go to step 23.

23. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

24. Reconnect USB adapter control unit connector A (14P).

25. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.

26. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

27. Turn on the audio unit.

28. Press the AUX button several times.

Is the display changed to other mode?

YES -

Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.

NO -

Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal / Installation.
