Removal and Replacement







Reverse (reversing) warning sensor (parking assistance module (PAM)), replacing

Special tools:

Removal

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removing the reverse (reversing) warning sensor

Note! The parking assistance module (PAM) is located behind the left-hand wheel arch in the cargo compartment.




Ignition off.




Fold up the floor hatch in the cargo compartment
Remove the corner piece (1) from the floor on the left-hand side. See the illustration.

Disconnecting the connector





Caution! The following procedure must be carried out to ensure that the connector and wiring are not damaged when removing the bumper.

Follow the cable from the sensors in the bumper up to the control module for the reverse (reversing) warning system.
Disconnect the connector (the cable comes from the bumper).

Note! Disconnect the correct connector. The control module for the back-up (reversing) warning system has 2 connectors.

Removing rear bumper




Remove the rear bumper. See Casing bumper rear, replacing Service and Repair.
Pull the cable out of the hole in the body.

Removing the reverse (reversing) warning sensor




Press down the spark plug cap rod 981 4214 PLUG CAP PLIERS 981 4214 PLUG CAP PLIERS between the sensor and the two upright catches on the holder so that the catches release from the sensor.
Carefully pull up the sensor.
Disconnect the connector.

Installation





Follow instructions for paint

Use: Soap solution







Installing the rear bumper




Route the cable through the lead-in in the rear section. See the illustration.
Install the rear bumper. See Casing bumper rear, replacing Service and Repair.

Installing the connector
Connect the connector to the parking assistance module (PAM).
- Install the parking assistance module (PAM)
- Reinstall the side panel.
Fold back the floor hatch.
Check the function.
