Checking Interference In LIN-Net

Checking interference in LIN-net

Fault-tracing information

Note! This symptom troubleshooting only applies to vehicles that show any or some of the following symptoms:

- Problems with windshield wipers.
- Problems with false alarms.
- The message in Driver information module (DIM) that service is needed for the alarm system.
The cause of the problems is likely a poor gasket on the internal battery in the siren (SCM). The poor gasket may cause battery acid to leak out on the integrated LIN-transceiver in the siren, which then results in interference in the LIN-communication. This may mean that the windshield wipers do not finish their movement.
A new gasket for the internal battery in the Siren control module (SCM) has been introduced both for production and aftermarket.
The poor gaskets were used during two time periods:
- Period 1: 24/05/06 - 10/05/07.
- Period 2: 13/12/07 - 05/03/08.
The time stamp can be read on the label on the vehicle's siren (SCM). The time stamp is read DD/MM/YY.
Verify the symptom by disconnecting siren (SCM). Now the windshield wipers shall work correctly.
If the windshield wipers work after Siren control module (SCM) has been disconnected, replace Siren control module (SCM).
After replacing Siren control module (SCM), load new software in the Central electronic module (CEM).
If the windshield wipers do not work correctly despite disconnection of Siren control module (SCM), the problem is not due to Siren control module (SCM). Continue to troubleshoot with VIDA.
