Description of parameters, Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT).
Hint: Some of the parameters are dependent on a certain version of vehicle and are therefore not always available.
Parameters, status
Hall sensors
The parameters indicate the status of the hall sensors.
Possible status:
- Ground
- Open-circuit (high impedance)
- Activated
- Not active
Switch handle
The parameter indicates the status of the outer opening handle.
Possible status:
- Pressed in
- Released
Switch boot lid closing
The parameter shows the status of the boot lid close switch. This switch is on the underneath of the boot lid.
Possible status:
- Pressed in
- Released
Sensor motor closure, boot lid
The parameter has the value "active" when boot lid closing has finished reversing, otherwise "inactive".
Sensor 1 (inner lock position)
The parameter has the value "active" if the boot lid is fully closed (inner lock position), otherwise "not active".
Sensor 2 (outer lock position)
The parameter has the value "active" if the boot lid is in the inner lock position (fully closed) or in the outer lock position, and "not active" if the boot lid is open.
Last affecting cause
The parameter describes the last cause why the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) stopped the opening or closing phases.
Possible status:
- Open, activated from driver's seat or key
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected an activation, open, from the Light Switch Module (LSM) or key during the opening or closing phases.
- Open, activated from the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) has requested opening during the opening or closing phase.
- External handle
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the outer opening handle has been affected during the opening or closing phase.
- Close button, tailgate
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the liftgate closing button has been affected during the opening or closing phase.
- Low voltage
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected voltage below 9.5 V and shuts down its functions as this voltage can damage components.
- Overheating protection
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks its components so that they do not become too hot. If there is a risk of the components becoming too hot, the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) shuts down its functions for a limited time.
- Lock not unlocked
The vehicle was locked when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
The tailgate lock did not open when an opening phase was requested to the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), or the lock was locked when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- High voltage
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected voltage above 15.5 V and shuts down its functions as this voltage can damage components.
- Spindle motor open circuit
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the spindle motor's circuit is open during the opening or closing phases.
- Spindle motor current exceeded
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the spindle motor has been subjected to high currents during the opening or closing phases.
- Spindle motor lock relay
The relay for the spindle motor jammed at activation.
- Vehicle speed above 1 km/h
The vehicle speed exceeded 1 km/h when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- CAN communication error
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected a fault on the CAN network, which means that the liftgate cannot open nor close.
- Incorrect vehicle position
The vehicle found itself in a vehicle position that was Normal set or Assembly plant set when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- Incorrect ignition position
The vehicle was in incorrect ignition position when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- Opening hall sensor timeout
During an opening phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) is immediately stopped by an obstruction.
- Opening hall sensor blocking detected.
During an opening phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), the tailgate was stopped by an obstruction. Hall sensor's algorithm detected the situation.
- Opening current blocking detected.
During an opening phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), the tailgate was stopped by an obstruction. Current's algorithm detected the situation.
- Closing hall sensor timeout
During an closing phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), tailgate immediately stopped by an obstruction.
- Closing hall sensor blocking detected.
During an closing phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), the tailgate was stopped by an obstruction. Hall sensor's algorithm detected the situation.
- Closing current blocking detected.
During an closing phase of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT), the tailgate was stopped by an obstruction. Current's algorithm detected the situation.
- Signal for luggage compartment lighting and latch in second position active
Luggage compartment lid did not open when an opening phase was requested (the lock is active in the second position).
- Hall error
No movement detected when the tailgate motor is active or inconsistent hall sensor signal detected.
Last activation
The parameter describes the last activation of the liftgate.
Possible status:
- Open, activated from driver's seat or key
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected an activation, open, from the Light Switch Module (LSM) or key.
- Open, activated from the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
A request to open the liftgate from the Keyless vehicle module (KVM) has been registered by the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT).
- External handle
Opening attempt via external opening handle.
- Close button, tailgate
Closing attempt via liftgate close button.
Non approved opening, cause
The parameter describes the last cause why opening the liftgate was refused. The parameter is only updated if the liftgate was opened using the external handle.
Possible status:
- Not available
No value saved or no affecting cause.
- Invalid voltage
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected voltage outside the range 10 V to 15.5 V and shuts down its functions as this voltage can damage components.
- Max. angle
The angle sensor detects maximum angle on the liftgate, which means that the liftgate is already open.
- Spindle motor, open-circuit or short-circuit to ground
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the spindle motor's circuit is open or short-circuited to ground.
- Motor protection
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks its components so that they do not become too hot. If there is a risk of the components becoming too hot, the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) shuts down its functions for a limited time.
- Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) deactivated
If the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) detects that is it installed on an incorrect vehicle or that the carconfig file does not correspond with what the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) expects, the unit and its functions deactivate. There may also be a fault in the control module's software which means that the control module deactivates itself.
- Closing motor active
If the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) detects that the closing motor is active, liftgate opening will not be approved.
- Spindle or retracting motor active
If the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) detects that the spindle or closing motor is active, tailgate opening will not be approved.
- CarConfig POT deactivated
The electric function of the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) us deactivated according to the configuration parameter.
- Incorrect vehicle position
The vehicle found itself in a vehicle position that was Normal set or Assembly plant set when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- Incorrect ignition position
The vehicle was in incorrect ignition position when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- Vehicle speed above 1 km/h
The vehicle speed exceeded 1 km/h when the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was activated.
- Private locking
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the vehicle was locked when the liftgate was activated.
- Poor battery status
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) receives battery status from the Central electronic module (CEM), if the status is poor, no activations will be allowed.
- ECU in shutdown phase
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) was in shutdown phase when liftgate opening was activated.
- CAN communication error
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected a fault on the CAN network, which means that the liftgate cannot open nor close.
- External opening handle jammed
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the external opening handle has jammed and the liftgate cannot be opened.
- Liftgate close button jammed
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the liftgate close button has jammed and the liftgate cannot be opened.
- Hall sensor voltage short-circuit to ground.
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the hall sensor voltage has short-circuited to ground.
- Hall sensor input signal short-circuit to battery
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the hall sensor input signal has short-circuited to battery.
Non approved closing, cause
The parameter describes the last cause why closing the liftgate was refused. The parameter is only updated if the liftgate was closed using the external handle or with the external close button on the liftgate.
Possible status:
- Lock not unlocked
- The tailgate's lock is locked when a closing phase to the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) is requested by the user.
- Invalid voltage
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected voltage outside the range 10 V to 15.5 V and shuts down its functions as this voltage can damage components.
- Spindle motor, short-circuit to ground or open
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the spindle motor's circuit is open or short-circuited to ground.

The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the hall sensor voltage has short-circuited to ground.
- Hall sensor input signal short-circuit to battery
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has detected that the hall sensor input signal has short-circuited to battery.
Lighting, load compartment
Active: LED in the cargo compartment lighting is on.
Not active: LED in the cargo compartment lighting is off.
Motor boot lid opening, status
The parameter indicates whether the boot lid opening motor is in the opening phase, closing phase or if it is inactive.
Motor closing, boot lid
Indicates the status of the motor that draws the boot lid in the final bit. Possible status is closing, reversing or inactive.
Degree of opening, boot lid
The parameter indicates the actual degree of opening for the boot lid, expressed in number of hall pulses.
Max value is around 750 and 900 hall pulses.
Learned maximum degree of opening, boot lid
The parameter indicates the learned maximum degree of opening for the boot lid expressed in number of hall pulses, i.e. the stop position that the user can program.
Minimum programmable value is 260 hall pulses (corresponds to about 30 degrees opening angle).
Motor protection, status
The parameter indicates whether the motor protection has been activated or not.
Last affecting cause
The parameter also indicates that the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) cancelled operation of the boot lid.
Last start of boot lid opening, cause
The parameter indicates the cause why the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) started opening the boot lid.
Non approved boot lid opening, cause
The parameter indicates the cause why the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) did not open the lid.
Non approved closing of the boot lid, cause
The parameter indicates the cause why the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) did not close the lid.
Correct Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) installed
The parameter indicates whether the correct type of Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) has been installed in the vehicle, i.e. if the type of control module that has been installed corresponds with the content in the actual vehicle configuration.
The possible values "Yes" if correct type of control module has been installed, "No" if the vehicle configuration indicates that the vehicle should be/not be equipped with another type of Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT).
