Towbar, hitch
- Apply high-viscosity anti-corrosion agent on the marked unpainted sheet metal surfaces on both sides of the impact member.
- Also apply on the marked unpainted sheet metal surfaces on both sides of the side members' trailing edges.
- Reinstall the impact member and its screws.
- Torque-tighten the screws with 48 Nm (35.4 lbf.ft.).
Applies to cars with R-design
- Remove the skid plate from the bumper cover.
Applies to all models
- Take the template marked "STD" from the accessory kit and cut out along the thick lines.
- Place the template on the bumper cover according to the existing markings.
Note! The template should be stretched.
- Scribe around the template where there is no marking.
- Use a scribe.
- Apply tape to the outside of the bumper cover, opposite the markings on the inside. This is done to protect the surface from the saw when cutting out the slot for the towbar.
Note! Do not damage the bumper cover's painted surface.
- Cut according to the markings.
- Saw out so that the raised edge on the inside that marks the cut-out remains.
- Remove the tape.
- Smooth off the sawn edges with a fine toothed file.
Applies to cars with skid plate
- Take the template marked "SKIDPLATE" from the accessory kit and cut out along the thick lines.
- Place the template on the skidplate according to the existing markings.
Note! The template should be stretched.
- Scribe around the template where there is no marking.
- Use a scribe.
- Tape the skid plate on the outside opposite where it is to be sawed to prevent the saw foot from damaging the paintwork.
Note! Do not damage the skidplate's painted surface.
- Cut according to the markings.
- Saw out so that the raised edge on the inside that marks the cut-out remains.
- Remove the tape.
- Smooth off the sawn edges with a fine toothed file.
Applies to cars with R-design
- Apply tape to the outside of the skid plate, opposite the marking on the inside. This is done to protect the paint from the saw when cutting out the cut-out for the towbar.
Note! Do not damage the skidplate's painted surface.
- Cut according to the markings.
- Saw out so that the raised edge on the inside that marks the cut-out remains.
- Remove the tape.
- Smooth off the sawn edges with a fine toothed file.
- Clean the surface of the bumper cover.
Use: Isopropanol
- Wipe dry.
- Paint the surface. Protect surrounding surfaces
Use: stone-chip protector 9510228
- Allow to dry.
- Press the skid plate securely into place.
Applies to all models
- Install the tow hitch connector with the cable harness according to the appropriate installation instructions.

Applies to cars with skid plate
- Hook the skid plate onto the holder and press until all hooks engage.
Hint: The mounting strip on the skid plate can be bent out slightly if it is difficult to hook onto the holder.
- Rivet the lower section of the skid plate at the bumper cover using pop rivets.
Applies to cars with R-design
- Reinstall the clips.
- Repeat the operation on the other side.
Applies to all models
- Take the ball retainer, lock bolt, and lock pin from the kit.
- Insert the ball holder in the towing member's square bracket until the holes in the ball holder and square bracket correspond.
- Slide the locking bolt into the hole.
- Lock the other side using the locking pin.
- Take ball, washer, and nut from the kit.
- Position the ball in the hole on the ball holder.
- Install washer and nut.
- Torque-tighten the screws with 224 Nm (180 lbf.ft.).
- Make two cuts in the bottom right rear corner of the storage compartment for the strap for securing the tow hitch.
- Thread the strap through the cuts.
- Place the tow hitch in the bag, do it up, place it in the compartment and tighten using the strap.
