Checking Radio Reception, HD Radio
Checking radio reception, HD radio
Fault-tracing information
HD radio transmits digitally on the AM respectively FM waveband in the USA. The Integrated Audio Module (IAM) will automatically switch to digital HD radio reception if available on the current frequency and if the HD radio function is marked in the user menu. When the Integrated Audio Module (IAM) receives digital HD radio, a symbol for HD radio appears in the display in the Infotainment Control Module (ICM).
If the customer is experiencing problems with the HD radio automatically switching between digital HD radio and regular analogue radio, this could be because the HD radio signal is disturbed by:
- Electrical wiring.
- Bridges.
- Tunnels.
- The vehicle is indoors, such as in a garage for example.
- The vehicle is in the broadcasting station's outer coverage area.
Action
Note! Do not replace any parts!
1. Inform the customer that the HD radio automatically switches between digital HD radio and regular analogue radio under certain circumstances.
2. Using a torque wrench check that the screw in the antenna amplifier is tightened to the ground terminal to a torque of 10 Nm.
