Checking Digital Radio

Checking the digital radio

Fault-tracing information

Digital radio reception
Digital radio signals are caught by the vehicle's aerial system during radio reception and are sent to the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) for decoding. The Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) then sends the signals on via the MOST network to the Infotainment control module (ICM) and the Integrated Audio Module (IAM) or the Audio module (AUD) depending on the vehicle configuration.

Checking the component
- Ignition on.
- Activate the digital radio.
Check that Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been stored for the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) and follow the instructions that each DTC refers to. If no DTCs are stored for the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR), continue fault tracing as follows:
- Check that fuse 11D/D4 (5A) is intact and that it is correctly positioned in the fuse box. The fuse box is in the cargo compartment.
- Check voltage supply C1:1 (Ubat ), ground lead C1:2 (Ulow) for a short-circuit and/or open-circuit, and that the MOST signal C3:1 and C3:2 to/from the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) is OK.
- Check that the aerial (16/47) and coaxial cable to the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) are OK.
If the checks fail to trace the fault, see the wiring diagram and signal description, Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR) for further information.

If the measurements show that the correct values and no other visible damage is found, the fault may be inside the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR). Replace the control module. Download new software to the Remote Digital Audio Receiver (RDAR).

Other information
Activate the digital radio. Check that the digital radio is on.
