Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U042861
Condition
The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Control Area Network). The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) transmits information on the controller area network (CAN), which the other systems can use. The Brake control module (BCM) retrieves the information that can then be used in different brake functions.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects:
- The signal informs that the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) has not been initiated within 120 seconds at a constant speed above 10 km/h.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition on.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- Stability control (SC) blocked.
- Traction control (TC) blocked.
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked.
Hint: Brake system, abbreviations Brake System, Abbreviations
Possible source
- After starting, without initiating the steering wheel sensor, the driver has driven continuously for more than two minutes above 10 km/h.
- Fault-trace the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS).
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
