Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U042841

Condition
The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Control Area Network). The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) transmits information on the controller area network (CAN), which the other systems can use. The Brake control module (BCM) retrieves the information that can then be used in different brake functions. The Brake control module (BCM) checks that the communication is correct via an internal diagnostic test mode (DTM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects:
- The signal deviates from the expected value.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Stability control (SC) blocked.
- Traction control (TC) blocked.
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked.

Hint: Brake system, abbreviations Brake System, Abbreviations

Possible source
- Fault-trace the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS).

Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
- Stability function is not working
- Traction control not working
- Anti skid function is not working
