Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U040541
Condition
The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Control Area Network). The Brake control module (BCM) retrieves the information that can then be used in different brake functions. Forward Sensing Module (FSM) sends continuous information to request braking by the Brake control module (BCM) when needed. The Brake control module (BCM) checks that the communication is correct via an internal diagnostic test mode (DTM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal deviates from the expected value.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- None.
Possible source
- Fault-trace the Forward Sensing Module (FSM).
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
Fault symptom[s]
- Adaptive cruise control; No Functionality
