Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-U040500
Condition
The Central electronic module (CEM) receives and checks the signals from the steering wheel buttons for cruise control. The information is transmitted via CAN to the Engine control module (ECM). The Engine control module (ECM) checks the quality level of the received information.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The quality level of received data is too low to be considered reliable.
- Expected data missing.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.
- Function cruise control is active.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- The cruise control function is disabled.
- Cruise control cannot be activated.
Possible source
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM).
- Fault-trace the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS).
