U014087 (Engine Control Module - ECM)

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-U014087

Condition
The Central electronic module (CEM) transmits a signal about whether the parking brake is active or not to the Engine control module (ECM) via the CAN network.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal from Central electronic module (CEM) is incorrect.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Only vehicles with mechanical parking brake.
- Engine running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- None.

Possible source
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM).
- Find the possible source in the connection between the parking brake and the Central electronic module (CEM).
- Open-circuit in one of the control area network (CAN) cables.
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors.
- One of the CAN network cables has a short-circuit to ground.
- One of the CAN network cables has a short-circuit to voltage.
- The CAN network's cables are short-circuited to each other.

Fault symptom[s]
