Checking the power supply to the transmission control module (TCM)




- Ignition on.
Check that the transmission control module (TCM) is powered and grounded by switching on the ignition.
The lighting on the gear selector panel must light.

Does the lighting on the gear selector light?

Yes - Checking communication

No - Checking the wiring and cables

- Ignition on.
Check the communication with the Transmission control module (TCM) by using one of the functions for vehicle communication.

Note! This stage is for obtaining an indication about how easy the fault is to find.

Is communication established?

Yes - Fault-tracing information

No - Checking the wiring and cables

Note! For information about fuses and terminals, see the Service Manual, wiring diagram for the relevant car model.

Check the following:
- The fuse in the engine compartment fusebox for the transmission control module (TCM).

Hint: If the fuse is blown, check the circuit after the fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Then replace the fuse

- The cable between the engine compartment fusebox and the transmission control module (TCM). Check for an open-circuit
- The cable between the transmission control module (TCM) and ground. Also check the ground terminal. Check for loose connections and oxidation
Remedy the cables as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Switch on the ignition for at least 10 seconds.
Try communicating with the control module by selecting one of the functions for vehicle communication under the Diagnostic tab.

No - VERIFICATION FAILED
