Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P083F00

Condition

Engine control module (ECM) monitors the clutch pedal's movement and position using a position sensor (1) and a position switch (2). The position sensor is connected to the Central electronic module (CEM) and information is sent to the Engine control module (ECM) via CAN. The position switch is directly connected to Engine control module (ECM) and is open (clutch pedal let up) in its starting position. When the clutch pedal is pressed down by more than 75%, the contact closes.
Engine control module (ECM) uses the position sensor to register how many times the clutch pedal is pressed down. Registration starts when the vehicle's speed is above 10 km/h and continues until the vehicle speed is above70 km/h. Registration is reset when vehicle speed becomes 0 km/h.

Note! In vehicles without an electronic parking brake, position sensor 1 is replaced by a further position switch at 25% of the pedal travel.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The clutch pedal has not been depressed at least five times (during the same driving instance) when the vehicle's speed varied between 10 km/h and 70 km/h.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition on.
- Vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- None.

Possible source
- Damaged clutch pedal switch.
