Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P012800
Condition
Checking of how the temperature increase proceeds takes place during the engine's warm-up phase. It is compared to the expected temperature increase, calculated according to load conditions and start temperature, among others.
If engine control module (ECM) registers that measured engine temperature deviates too much from the calculated, the diagnostic trouble code is generated.
The diagnostic trouble code is diagnosed once per operating cycle, with the engine running, when calculated engine temperature reaches 80 °C, but only if engine start is performed when measured engine temperature is between -10 and 63 °C.
Substitute value
- Nothing.
Possible source
- Damaged thermostat.
- Contact resistance and oxidation in cables and connections for the engine temperature sensor.
- Damaged engine temperature sensor.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- Engine does not get warm.
