Fault-Tracing Information






Fault-tracing

Information
- Check diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM).

Note! Ensure there are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) before carrying out this fault-tracing. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for faults in the rear doors are also stored in the control modules for the front doors.

Function test




- Ignition on
- Activate the child-proof lock function.
The function is activated using the switch on the control panel on the driver's door.
Check that Central electronic module (CEM) sends out a command for child lock function by starting the read-out.
The lock motors for the child-proof locks in the rear doors must be activated. When the function is activated, the rear doors cannot be opened from inside and the rear power windows cannot be operated from the controls in the rear doors.









Is the function correct?

No - Checking the wiring

- Ignition off.

Hint: For information about the connectors, fuses and wiring, see the wiring diagram for the relevant car model.

Check that the fuse for the door module in the left rear door is intact on the rear relay and fuse box. If the fuse has blown, check the circuit after the fuse before replacing the fuse. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Check the connector on the lock unit in the left rear door. Check for damage, bent pins and oxidation.
Check the cables between the control module in the left rear door and the lock unit for open circuit, loose connection and short-circuiting to voltage or ground.
Also check that no mechanical components in the door are preventing the lock motor from operating.
Remedy the cables as necessary.

Was a fault detected?

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the lock unit

- Ignition off.
If the lock motor for the child-proof lock does not function as intended and no other fault has been found, the fault is probably internal. The lock motor must be replaced.

If no fault is discovered, this indicates that a fault has previously been registered, but that the fault is no longer present. The fault is intermittent. No further fault-tracing is required.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
Ignition on.
Activate the child-proof lock function.
Check that Central electronic module (CEM) sends out a command for child lock function by starting the read-out.
It must not be possible to open the rear doors using the inner handles. It must not be possible to operate the rear power windows from the panels in the rear doors.
