Fault-Tracing Information
Fault-tracing
Information
- Check diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM).
Note! Ensure there are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) before carrying out this fault-tracing. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for faults in the rear doors are also stored in the control modules for the front doors.

-------------------------------------------------
Function test
- Lock and unlock the car a few times.
Note! If locking and unlocking is performed too many times in succession, the lock motors can become hot. The lock motors will stop working temporarily. During the check, the locks should therefore not be locked or unlocked more than 10 times in succession without the motors being given time to cool (approximately 30 seconds).
The car can be locked or unlocked using the central locking button or the remote control.
Check that the door locks/unlocks.
Also check that the lock unit is activated twice for every locking/unlocking.
The door must be locked/unlocked and the lock motor may only be activated once per locking/unlocking.
Is the function OK?
Yes - Fault-tracing information
No - Checking the wiring
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the wiring
- Remove the side of the door.
Check the connector on the lock unit in the left rear door. Check for damage, bent pins and oxidation.
Check the cables between the control module in the left rear door and the lock unit for open circuit, loose connection and short-circuiting to voltage or ground.
For information about the connectors and wiring, see the wiring diagram for the relevant car model.
Remedy the cables as necessary.

Was a fault detected?
Yes - Verification
No - Replacing the lock unit

Replacing the lock unit
- Ignition off.
If the lock unit does not function as intended and no other fault has been found, the fault is probably internal. The lock motor must be replaced.

Fault-tracing information
If no fault is discovered, this indicates that a fault has previously been registered, but that the fault is no longer present. The fault is intermittent. No further fault-tracing is required.
