Oil pump, four wheel drive coupling
Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Preparatory work
Removing components
Remove the following items:
- the propeller shaft. Refer to: Propeller Shaft, B6324S5, TF-80SC AWD Propeller Shaft
- the flange from the four wheel drive coupling. Refer to: Active On-Demand Coupling Seal, B6324S5, TF-80SC AWD Active On-Demand Coupling Seal.
Removal
Removing the oil pump
Ignition off
Note! Thoroughly clean around the oil pump before beginning removal.
Place a container under the active on demand coupling (AOC).
Remove:
- the connector from the Differential Electronic Module (DEM) to the active on demand coupling (AOC)
- the cable harness mountings.
Remove the two screws from the oil pump. Pull the pump straight out from the active on demand coupling (AOC).
Note! Later versions of the oil pump have the socket for the cable harness on the side of the oil pump housing. The cable harness is shorter. This version supersedes all previous versions, including as a replacement part.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Installing oil pump
Thoroughly check that the oil pump seat in the active on demand coupling (AOC) is clean. There must be no residue left from cloths or paper.
Check that the new O-rings are in position. Lubricate the O-rings. Use oil for the active on demand coupling (AOC).
Install the oil pump. Press the pump in as far as possible. Lightly tighten the 2 M5 screws alternately. Tighten. See Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Connect the connector.
Filling and checking the oil level
Top up and check the oil level in the active on demand coupling (AOC), the front level plug.
Use oil.
Tighten the level plug according to: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Install the propeller shaft and the exhaust system.
