Checking Oil Level
Oil level, checking
Preparatory work
Removing the lower engine cover
Remove the splash guard.
Remove:
- cover over air cleaner by pulling straight up
- screws, 2 pcs, for fresh air hose in front plate
- fresh air intake hose.
Remove:
- nut in front left wing
- hose clip for air bellows
- connectors to engine control module (ECM)
- the connector for the mass airflow sensor (MAF)
- air cleaner.
Before filling
Warning! Avoid skin contact with the specified material.
Warning! Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
Caution! Ensure that equipment and tools are clean and free from contaminants and lubricant.
Remove the filler plug (Torx 55).
Lower a filler nozzle or a hose with funnel into the filler hole.
Installing the air cleaner (ACL)
Put in place temporarily:
- air filter for air bellows
- connectors to engine control module (ECM)
- connector for mass airflow sensor.
Check
Basic fluid level check
Start the engine.
Note! Leave the engine running during the entire check.
Note! The following measure must be carried out quickly to avoid overheating the fluid.
Run through all the positions between P and D on the gear selector. Stop at each position for at least 2 seconds. Perform this process twice.
Place the gear selector in position P.
Raise the vehicle and place a receptacle under the gearbox.
While the engine is running, remove the integrated level plug (Torx 40).
If there is no transmission fluid coming out of the level plug hole, top up until it starts to drop.
Fit the integrated level plug (Torx 40) by hand. Reuse the old O-ring.
Switch off the engine.
To prevent the temperature exceeding the measuring interval in the next measure, top up with 0.5 liters of transmission fluid as follows.
Finishing
Installing the filler plug
Fit the filler plug (Torx 55). Use a new O-ring. Moisten the new O-ring with transmission fluid and tighten according to.
Installing the air cleaner (ACL)
Install:
- the connector for the mass airflow sensor (MAF)
- hose clip for air bellows
- connectors to engine control module (ECM)
- nut in front left wing.
Install:
- the fresh air intake hose
- screws, 2 pcs, for fresh air hose in front plate
- cover over air cleaner.
Checking the oil level
Connect the diagnostic equipment and read the transmission fluid temperature continuously.
Start the engine.
Note! Leave the engine running during the entire check.
Note! The following measure must be carried out quickly to avoid overheating the fluid.
Run through all the positions between P and D on the gear selector. Stop at each position for at least 2 seconds. Perform this process twice.
Allow the transmission fluid to heat up to 50 °C.
Note! The fluid will not heat up faster by stalling.
Place a lower drip shield on the floor under the vehicle.
While the engine is running, remove the integrated level plug (Torx 40).
Allow the excess fluid to run out.
When the fluid is between 50 °C and 60 °C, check that the transmission fluid has stopped running out and is only dropping from the level plug hole.
Caution! It is essential the temperature not exceed 60 °C, as this can result in the transmission fluid level being too low.
Fit the integrated level plug (Torx 40). Use a new O-ring. Moisten the new O-ring with transmission fluid and tighten according to.
Note! Wipe away any transmission fluid spill.
Installing the lower engine cover
Fit the lower engine cover with bolts, 6 x M8. Tighten.
Switch off the engine.
