DESCRIPTION:
A hesitation upon acceleration may be felt by the customer, especially with fuel with a low octane rating. Hot ambient temperature and / or high altitude may make the situation worse. The root cause has been found to be knock limitation (ignition retardation due to knock). This applies to vehicles with engine 95 only.
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
New Engine Control Module (ECM) Software (SW) will be introduced into production during structure week 2012w16.
SERVICE:
New ECM SW is now available as a service fix.
With a confirmed hesitation complaint, perform an ECM Upgrade according to VIDA. If there are any other symptoms, for example Bank 2 misfires and/or knocking noises coming from the oil pan, please also refer to TJ 24516.
