Checking Air Quality Sensor
Checking the air quality sensor
Checking the function
The Air quality sensor (AQS) sends signals to the Climate control module (CCM) if it detects increased amounts of contaminants in the outdoor air. When this occurs the climate control module (CCM) transmits a signal to the Damper motor module (DMM) for recirculation to close the fresh air damper and to use recirculated air.
To check that the Air quality sensor (AQS) works, carry out the following test:
- Click on the symbol for VCT2000 to read off the Damper motor module's (DMM) recirculation position and degree of recirculation.
- Spray a little rust solvent or windshield washer fluid into the air intake, using a spray bottle or similar.
Note! Use only a small amount of rust solvent or windshield washer fluid.
- Check that the Air quality sensor (AQS) reacts and starts to close the recirculation damper.
- Shut the read out.
The fresh air intake damper closes quickly if the Air quality sensor (AQS) and other electronics are fault-free. If the air quality sensor (AQS) is fault free, the damper for the fresh air intake will gradually open after approximately 15 seconds.

Checking the damper motor control
Check that Damper motor module (DMM) recirculation works by opening and closing the damper using the recirculation switch. Click VCT2000 to check the movement. If the Damper motor module (DMM) does not work, or the damper for recirculation does not work, continue to check diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) or symptom fault-trace the Damper motor module (DMM).
In the event of a faulty Air quality sensor (AQS), replace it with a new one and check the function again.
