Silencer, front, replacement

Removal

Removing the muffler





Note! If there is no joint between the front and rear silencer then both parts must be replaced.

Caution! Suspend the front section of the exhaust pipe so that the catalytic converter is not loaded.

Applies only to first-time replacement.

Remove:
- the nuts to the flange gasket, x2
- the bolts to the bracket, x2
- the bracket to the rubber mounting
- the rubber mountings, x4
- the silencer, front and rear in one piece
- the flange gasket.

Caution! Suspend the front section of the exhaust pipe so that the catalytic converter is not loaded.

Applies to second-time or later replacements.

Remove:
- the nut to the clamp between the front and rear silencer
- the 2 x nuts for the flange gasket
- the 2 x screws for the bracket
- the bracket with the rubber mounting
- the silencer.

Installing the silencer



Note! To ensure that there is no exhaust leakage, see: Flanged joint, assembling Removal and Replacement.

Applies only to first-time replacement.

Install:
- a new gasket
- the front silencer
- the 2 x M8 nuts for the flange gasket
- the bracket to the rubber mounting
- the 2 x M8 screws for the bracket
- the rear muffler
- the rubber mountings, x4
- the M10 nut for the clamp between the front and rear mufflers.
Applies to later replacements.

Install:
- a new gasket
- the front muffler
- the 2 x M8 nuts for the flange gasket
- the bracket to the rubber mounting
- the 2 x M8 screws for the bracket
- the rubber mounting
- the M10 nut for the clamp between the front and rear mufflers.
