Gasket, Inner Timing Cover

Gasket, inner timing cover

Removal

Note! Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Remove the front crankshaft seal. Refer to: crankshaft front seal, B6324S5 Service and Repair.





Rotate the engine to the zero position. 999 7257 Wrench 999 7257 Wrench.





Lock the camshafts. 999 7261 Position sensor 999 7261 Position Sensor.

Remove the outer timing cover. Refer to: Outer timing cover gasket, B6324S5 Gasket, Outer Timing Cover.










Raise the tensioner's lock plate (1) slightly and press the tensioner together (2). Secure with a steel wire, drill or the like with a 2 mm diameter in the tensioner hole (3).

Installation










M7. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque





Slacken the screws two turns.










M6. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque
Remove the lock for the tensioner.






Attach the following items:
- 999 7264 Counterhold 999 7264 Counterhold
- 999 7263 Counterhold 999 7263 Counterhold
- 999 7272 TORX 60 999 7272 Torx(R) 60

Install the following items:
- Center screw, exhaust camshaft. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque
- Center screw, intake camshaft. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque

Remove the following items:
- 999 7263 Counterhold 999 7263 Counterhold
- 999 7264 Counterhold 999 7264 Counterhold
- 999 7272 TORX 60 999 7272 Torx(R) 60





Remove the following items:
- 999 7261 Position sensor 999 7261 Position Sensor





Turn the engine two rotations and check the setting.





Remove and discard the intermediate shaft seal.





Install the cover.
Use the tool and 3 screws in the indicated spot to guide the cover and gasket into the right position. Do not tighten!
999 7266 Position sensor 999 7266 Position Sensor and 999 7267 Position sensor 999 7267 Position Sensor.





M7. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque





Tighten the screws in the order illustrated.

Screw in the adjuster screws until they make contact.
Inner timing cover adjuster screw. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque





M8. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque






Install the following items:
- M6. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque
- M7. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque
- M8. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque


Install the following items:
- the drive wheel and new seal. Refer to: Intermediate shaft gasket, auxiliaries side, B6324S5 Intermediate Shaft Gasket, Auxiliaries Side
- auxiliary brackets.





M7. Refer to: Tightening torque, B6324S5 Tightening Torque





Install new seals.

Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Cooling system - draining, charging and bleeding Service and Repair.
