DESCRIPTION:
Black spots may become visible on the UEM (Upper Electronic Module) mirror glass and the symptom becomes visible over time. This is caused by an insufficient ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) layer on the 3rd surface of the mirror. This is the layer that protects the silver coating inside the mirror from corrosion. Depending on the thickness of the insufficient ITO layer the colour will look different. Complete oxidation spots will appear to be black. Mirrors having a incorrect ITO layer will look white and may or may not degrade over time and become black. The black spots are situated behind the mirror glass and can not be cleaned or wiped away. Please see the attached picture for reference.
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
Mirrors produced from June 1, 2011 are corrected.
SERVICE:
Upon customer complaints regarding this symptom, please replace the affected UEM.
