Mobility Connection Package



























































INTRODUCTION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimize the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

Note! These installation instructions show installation on left-hand drive cars. For right-hand drive cars, perform the installation on the opposite side and/or mirrored. Where operations differ, the right-hand version is also shown with test and images. There may be parts of the accessories kit that are not used for this installation.When installing Velcro fasteners/tape, the underlying surface must be kept at a temperature of at least +20° C (68°F).Place the manual for this accessory in a suitable place in the vehicle.For information regarding the GARMIN device, see www.garmin.com.






Note! Take care when handling the components, they are fragile and are easily damaged.

- Take the three screws M5x20 part no. 986956 and nuts from the kit.
- To prevent excessive resistance when the nut for the holder is tightened, hold the screw and screw the nut on and off the threaded part of the screw. Carry this out on all screws and nuts.





- Take special tool 9814104 (torx driver, torx 6), and unscrew the two screws holding the connector in the holder.
- Carefully push the connector to one side with the cable to expose the bottom of the holder.





- Take the kit with the four spacers from the installation kit.
- Carefully pry off the spacer using P/N 31212525. The part number (1) is on the bottom of the spacer.





- Take the three screws and insert them in the spacer fully.





- Apply pieces of butyl tape to the screws so that the screw heads do not protrude outside the spacer when installing it.





- Install the spacer in the bottom of the holder.





- Ensure that the holder's two screw turrets align between the small pins in the oblong holes in the spacer. A click should be heard when the spacer is securely in position.





- Place the connector in the bottom of the hole. The guide hole (1) in the connector's circuit board must align in the corresponding pin at the bottom of the holder and the holes (2) in the circuit board must be over the holder's screw turret.





- Take the small torx screws and carefully tighten the connector to the holder. Ensure that the connector's circuit board is properly against the screw turret and that there is no play.
- Remove the butyl tape from the screws.





- Slide the front seats back and upwards at the front edge.
- Turn the ignition key to position 0.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least three minutes before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.





- Remove the centre console's right and left-hand side panel by pulling away starting at the front edge and then backwards until all the clips have released.





- Remove the end face panel from the dashboard.





- Remove the sound insulation on the right and left-hand sides by first removing the two screws and then prying off the sound insulation.






Applies to cars with automatic gearbox
- Turn the ignition key to position II.

Applies to all models
- Move the gear selector lever to its rearmost position.
- Use a weatherstrip and pry off the gear selector panel at the rear edge.





- Press in the catches and remove the panel.





- Remove the two screws.
- Remove the bracket with the A/C panel and radio from the center console. Pull from the lower edge and then downwards until it releases from the mounting at the upper edge.

Note! Do not damage the removed components or the surrounding panels.

- Unplug the connectors.

- Remove the loudspeaker grille as follows: Insert the special tool, 9995919 into the joint between the loudspeaker grille and the dashboard approximately as illustrated, until it engages.
- Twist the tool 90° so that the bent section engages with the underneath of the loudspeaker grille.

- Pull upward until the loudspeaker grille detaches, it is securely fastened by four clips. Move the tool closer to the clips to facilitate removal.

Note! Do not damage the dashboard.

- Lift out the loudspeaker grille.





- Take the template from the kit and cut it along the outer lines.





- Tape the template to the loudspeaker grille.





Drilling is the same on right and left-hand drive cars.
- Drill at right angles to the loudspeaker grille.
- Predrill the holes according to the template using a -3 mm (1/8") drill bit.
- Remove the template.

- Turn over the loudspeaker grille and cut away some of the ribs on the underside so that the result corresponds with figure B.









- Drill the three holes for the cradle's feet using a step drill -14 mm (9/16").





- Take the step drill and drill out the hole for the connection in the holder using a -28 mm (1 7/64") drill bit.





- Deburr and bend in the edges using a round file.

- Take three nuts, washer and the cradle out of the kit and secure to the loudspeaker grille.

- Tighten the cradle.

- Remove the five screws. Lift up the loudspeaker and remove the connector.
- Put the loudspeaker to one side. New loudspeaker and console in the kit.

- On vehicles without a center loudspeaker there is a console holding the loudspeaker grille. On these vehicles the console remains in place and the cable is routed through the hole.





- Take a piece of foam tape from the kit and cut off as shown in the image.





- Take the long cable harness (A) from the kit.
- Wrap the larger piece of foam tape around the fuse holder to prevent rattling.






Note! The cable harness is always routed on the right-hand side in the tunnel console and the centre console up to the hole for the right-hand grille, on both right and left-hand drive cars.

- Take hold of the long cable harness. Route the end with the small connector on the right-hand side in the centre console, up and out through the hole for the loudspeaker grille console.





- Connect the connector to the loudspeaker. Route the cable to the cradle through the large hole in the speaker console.
- Tighten the console using the five existing screws.





- Take out the small cable (B) from the kit and connect to the newly routed cable harness.
- Wrap the smaller piece of foam tape around the connectors.





- Take the loudspeaker grille with cradle. Connect the connector to the cradle.





- Insert the cable in the hole for the loudspeaker/console and push on the loudspeaker grille.





- Take the cable harness (D) and control module from the kit. Connect the cable harness to the control module.





- Secure the cable harness to the control module using a cable tie.





- Fold up the left mounting of the control module.

Note! Mirror steps 36-38 on right-hand drive cars.





- Take a piece of foam tape from the kit and cut in the middle. Place a piece on the right-hand mounting of the control module.





- Apply a piece of foam tape so that it covers half the upper edge and half the side edge.

Applies to left-hand drive cars




- Push the carpet on the right-hand side of the tunnel console to one side.
- Place the control module between the carpet and insulation. The right-hand mounting of the control module should be below the air duct.

Applies to right-hand drive cars




- Push the carpet on the left-hand side of the tunnel console to one side.
- Place the control module between the carpet and insulation. The left-hand mounting of the control module should be below the air duct.
