Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code information BCM-U000100

Condition

The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Controller Area Network). The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated if the brake control module (BCM) registers serious interference (CAN communication blocked).

Note! In the event of a system communication malfunction, it is not possible to communicate with the brake control module (BCM). Thus, the diagnostic trouble code can only be read out if the malfunction is intermittent.

Substitute value
- The brake control module (BCM) deactivates itself ("bus off")

Hint: The control module will remain deactivated until the voltage feed is interrupted (15, 30, X). When the voltage feed is reconnected, the control module will make new attempts to communicate.

Possible source
- Short-circuit between CAN cables.
- Open circuit in CAN cables.
- Internal malfunction in brake control module (BCM).
- Internal malfunction in another control module in the same part of the CAN network.

Fault symptom[s]
- ABS warning light on.
- No ABS function.
- Message in the text display.
