Condition




The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) is located in the Steering Wheel Module (SWM) from which it is supplied with power. It is however only the Steering Angle Sensor which communicates on the Control Area Network (CAN).
The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) incorporates 2 processors which work together. The processors continuously check the communications which are transmitted between them. If the main processor in the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) registers that the information is in any way incorrect, the trouble code is set.
The trouble code may be diagnosed when the ignition is on and the angle sensor is initiated. The sensor is initiated by the steering wheel being turned by more than 4.5° in either direction.
