Background: A test for evacuating batteries is included in VIDA from version 2012C.

The test can be used on vehicles with a Battery Monitoring Sensor (BMS); 2011 and newer P3 vehicles.

The test can be found by following this path:
DIAGNOSTICS->VEHICLE COMMUNICATION->CEM->ADVANCED->BATTERY
MONITORING SENSOR (BMS)->AUTOMATIC BATTERY TEST

The test can also be found by following a related CSC.

The test uses the vehicles own electrical system to determine the condition of the battery by evaluating:

-the battery's ability to accept charge
-the battery's ability to carry a load.

Performing the test:
Perform the test by following the on-screen instructions provided by VIDA.

This test is designed to be used on vehicles which have had a related complaint and therefore a low State of Charge (SoC). The test first reads the battery SoC which is stored in the CEM and only proceeds with the test if it is below 60%. (The test will be further improved in VIDA 2012D and include instructions
for reducing the battery's state of charge so that the test can be used in a wider variety of cases).

The test result will be presented on the screen along with a code that should be copied and included if there is any related warranty claim. Copy the code before exiting the test, as it can not be retrieved after exiting. If possible, use the copy and paste functions to avoid errors.

Giving feedback on this new function:
This is a new function which is scheduled to be improved in the next VIDA versions and your feedback is valuable. Please use the following format to give us your feedback via a TIE report:

Choose Concern Area Vida, then Sub Concern Area Problem to diagnose car.

Use this Title: Feedback on Battery Testing using VIDA 2012C.

Include this information in the text:

1. What was the customer complaint (no crank, slow crank, DIM message, other)?

2. How was the vehicle brought to you (started on its own and driven in, jump started and driven in, towed in, other)?

3. What was the SoC when the vehicle was brought in (use parameter CEM-Battery charge status SoC)?

4. How long has it been since the CEM registered that the battery was disconnected (use Parameter CEM-Battery operation time since BMS reset)?

5. What was the result of the test (pass, fail)?

If you also tested the battery with the handheld tester:

6. Which tester (3100 or 3300)?

7. What was the result of the test with the handheld tester?

8. Your comments:

This report title and format should only be used to give feedback for the improvement of this function, not for issues diagnosing a specific vehicle.
