Checking Lock Mechanism, Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT)
Checking lock mechanism
Checking the voltage
If the lock mechanism does not work for Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) it may be due to the battery being in poor condition or short-circuiting on the voltage supply to Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT). Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) only works at a voltage above 10 V.
Check voltage supply to Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and voltage supply to Central electronic module (CEM) by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000, and read out the values.
If the battery is poor, replace it.
However, if there is a difference of the voltage supply between Central electronic module (CEM) and Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) greater than 2 V, check the cable harness. This check should be done with regards to short-circuiting to ground.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the sensor
Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks the voltage to the switch for the tailgate's external handle.
Check status for the external handle by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000. Status shall show pressed in when you press in the handle, and released when you do not press the handle.
If status shows pressed in even if there is no evident action, check the external handle with regards to the sensor having been displaced.

Checking the cable and component
Check the leads between Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the external handle. Also investigate the connector in Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and the connector in the external handle with regards to loose connection and oxidation.
If the leads are intact, replace external handle.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the sensor
The Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) checks the status for boot lid motor closing, and the time closure takes using sensor 2 (outer lock position) and sensor 1 (inner lock position). Sensor 2 (outer lock position) shall be active when the lock is in either the outer or inner lock position and not active if the lock is open. Sensor 1 (inner lock position) shall only be active when the lock is completely closed and not active if the lock is open or in the outer lock position.
Check the sensors by:
- Click on the symbol for VCT2000 and read out status for sensors.
- Close the tailgate with the button on the tailgate's lower edge.
- Check that sensors changes status at the end of closing.
If status does not change for the sensors, the lock mechanism shall be replaced.
