DESCRIPTION:

If a customer reports an unsteady Bluetooth connection between the BPM (Bluetooth Phone Module) and HTC brand phones please read the information below.

Customer complaints regarding unsteady Bluetooth connection can be traced down to HTC smartphones with Windows Mobile operating system. There are many problems regarding the Microsoft Windows Mobile Bluetooth solution.

For certain phone models, there might already be a software upgrade available.

Customer complaints regarding no sound in the car speakers nor TCM (infotainment Control Module) display indication of any active call when using HTC HD2 and HTC HD Mini has been defined. See Service for workaround.

PRODUCT MODIFICATION:

One of the reasons for unstable Bluetooth connection is related to the AT-command handling and timing between BPM and mobile phone.

Service and production solution has been released. See TJ 20962 for details.

SERVICE:

Please do not replace any parts if the above described symptom occurs.

The primary reason for non working transfer of phonebooks and call lists is related to the number of phone numbers in the call lists for received, missed or called numbers.

Too many numbers in those lists will interfere with the functionality as it takes too long to transfer all lists.

These lists needs to be decreased or erased to get the functionality back again.

If possible, set limitations for the quantity or time of present call lists.

HTC HD2 or HTC HD Mini

Not possible to make any outgoing phone calls or receive any incoming phone calls when HTC HD2 or HTC HD Mini is used with the BPM. The call is ongoing in the mobile phone but the car 1CM display does not indicate any active call and no sound can be heard in the car speakers.

The workaround for this behavior is to turn off the data connection in the HTC phone:

1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls to access Comm Manager.

2. Disconnect the active data connection by set "Data connection" to "Off". Please note that the "Data connection" is automatically enabled every time the phone is restarted.

Always inform your customers about the present situation with Microsoft Windows Mobiles and ask them to make sure that they are using the latest available firmware in their phones. HTC continuously releases hot fixes for known problems that cause unwanted behavior for a large number of users, these fixes can be found on the HTC website. www.htc.com
