Symptom and function description
The telephone's system's functions can only be used when the telephone is in the active position. When the telephone system is deactivated, no phone calls can be received.
In standby, the audio system can be in operation at the same time as the call is received. In standby, it is not possible to make a call.
When the telephone system is activated or is in standby, a handset is shown in the display.
When the telephone is activated, the keypad in the steering wheel only controls the telephone functions. To control the audio system, the telephone must be in standby.
The call volume is controlled using the buttons in the steering wheel's keypad. If the handset is used, the volume can be controlled using a knob on the side of the handset.
The telephone uses the central loudspeaker or the speaker in the driver's door. Sound volume mutes temporarily during a phone call. At the end of a call, the sound volume resumes to its original volume. If the volume is controlled during the phone call, the new level is maintained after the call has ended.
The Phone module (PHM) determines whether the call is to be connected via hands free or handset from the cradle signal. When the handset is in the holder, all voice calls are hands-free. The handset is activated when it is removed from the holder. If the handset is lifted when a phone call is started, the sound will be emitted from the hands free system
The telephone can only be used together with a valid SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module). Card supplied by network operators. In the event of a problem with the card, contact the network operator.
For more information, see Design and Function.
Hint: If the customer experiences problems with the Phone Module (PHM) not switching back to the home network after a trip abroad, new software must be installed. The problem is based in NITZ (Network Information & Time Zone) , which is a function that not all networks support. The problem is solved in the software released 200722.
