Alarm, basic kit
INTRODUCTION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimize the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

Note! This accessory is connected to the car's electrical system. It requires software unique to the car.
Installing the diode
- Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
- Carefully bend loose the diode/sensor in the instrument panel.
- Loosen the connector from the diode and lay it aside. New diode is included in the kit.
- Get the new diode from the kit. Connect it to the connector and install it by pressing it in the instrument panel.
Installing the siren
- Remove the wiper arms.
- Remove the front part of the battery box cover.
- Loosen the rubber seals by the sides of the panels over the wiper shafts, on both sides.
- Remove the clips of the wiper shaft panel and remove the panel.
Steps 9-16 apply to left-hand drive cars
- Loosen the relay box from its holder to access the siren's attachment bracket in front of the air inlet to the climate unit.
- Pull up the Engine control module (ECM) from its bracket and lay it to the side.
- Remove the two M6 nuts and the control module bracket.
- Remove the two plastic nuts and loosen the bigger bracket.
- Remove the connector for the headlights' control module, located in the bracket's lower edge on the right side. Remove the bracket with the control module.
- Take the siren and bracket. Insert the right stud bolt in the holder's right hole and hook on the left.
- Take the siren's protective casing and nuts from the kit.
- Fit the casing's right side on the siren's right stud bolt and hook on the casing on the other. Install the nuts and make sure that the siren with casing is installed correctly in the holder.
- Tighten the nuts with 8 Nm ± 2 (5.9 lbf.ft ± 1.5).
- Plug in the connector for the headlights' control module.
- Reinstall the bracket with siren and casing. Tighten it down with the two plastic nuts.
- Reinstall the Engine control module (ECM) bracket and tighten it with the two nuts. Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Connect the pre-wired 3-pin black connector to the siren.
- Reinstall the relay box in its holder.
- Reinstall the control module in its bracket.
Steps 17-22 apply to right-hand drive cars
- Remove the relay box from its holder.
- Take the siren and insert the right stud bolt in the holder's right hole. Hook on the left stud bolt in the attachment bracket in front of the air inlet for the climate unit.
- Take the protective cover from the kit.
- First fit the casing's right side on the siren's right stud bolt and then hook on the casing on the left.
- Install the nuts and make sure that the siren with casing is located correctly in the holder.
- Tighten the nuts with 8 Nm ± 2 (5.9 lbf.ft ± 1.5).
- Connect the pre-wired 3-pin black connector to the siren.
- Reinstall the relay box in its holder.
Applies to all models
- Reinstall the panel over the wiper shafts with the existing clips.
- Reinstall the front part of the battery box cover.
- Reinstall the wiper arms with nuts and cover. Tighten the nuts with 30 ± 3 Nm (22 ± 2 lbf.ft.).
Installing the new hood lock
- Remove the three clips by pressing together the fasteners and pulling them away.
Hint: Take a piece of wiper hose. Tie a knot on it and install on the wiper pump to avoid spillage when the hose is removed.
- Fold back the wing liner.
- Loosen the connector and wiper hose to the headlight's high pressure washer.
- Seal off the outlet on the wiper pump.
- Fold back the wing liner.
- Loosen the connector on the inside of the air guide.
Hint: Get help from a colleague for this procedure.
- Unhook the rear edge of the bumper casing end from the catches on both sides (inset illustration).
- Carefully remove the ends. They are located using two clips by the front wing and three under the headlights.
- Pull loose the bumper casing forward in one piece.
- Disconnect the connectors for the fog lamps, if installed.
- Remove the bumper casing.
- Remove the sealing panel, it is fastened by one clip on the right-hand side and a catch on the top edge.
Note! The hood lock on the right-hand side of the car is to be replaced with a new lock from the kit. This applies to both left-hand and right-hand drive cars. Markings are on both sides of the hood lock for left-hand and right-hand drive cars. The marking for the car model in question should face outwards.
- Remove the screws in the hood lock and pull forwards.
- Loosen the wire from the hood lock and put to one side.
Illustrations A and B
- Take the new hood lock from the kit
Insert the lead with the connector between the soft panel and the headlight's bracket. Pull it in to the trailing edge of the headlight bracket. Route the lead in all the way to the holes for the connector's attachment. The panel must be bent slightly to get through the connector. Carefully press through the connector with a small screwdriver.
Note! Take care of the two leads.
- Bolt on the hood lock loosely with existing screws.
- Align the hood lock sideways using the hood's lock brace.
- Torque the nuts for the hood lock with 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).
- Route the lead from the hood lock.
- Press the connector with holder into the holes in the plate against the headlight.
- Connect the 2-way connector, on the heavy cable harness behind the headlight, to the routed lead.
Supplementary work
Hint: Get help from a colleague for this procedure.
- Connect the connectors for the fog lamps, if installed.
- Reinstall the bumper cover and make sure that all catches engage.
- Download the software for the accessory's function.
