Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U042862
Condition
The Brake control module (BCM) compares, at each ignition cycle, a value of the steering wheel angle from the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) with a calculated value.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The deviation value is too large.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Speed continually above 10 km/h.
- Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) initiated (steering wheel turned more than 10° in any direction).
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- Stability control (SC) blocked.
- Traction control (TC) blocked.
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked.

Possible source
- After starting, without initiating the steering wheel sensor, the driver has driven continuously for more than two minutes above 10 km/h.
- After starting the driver has driven without initiating the steering wheel sensor, above 100 km/h and has then switched off the ignition.
- Internal fault in the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS).
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
