Checking the component
Note! If other diagnostic trouble codes are stored for the transmission control module (TCM), these should be remedied first as one of them could be the cause.
- Ignition off.
- Check the transmission connectors for damage, contact resistance and oxidation.
- Reconnect the connectors, reinstall components etc.
- Select vehicle communication and calibrate gear position sensor.
- Test drive the vehicle following: Test drive schedule, description, B6304T4, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S5, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S5, TF-80SC, B6324S4, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S4, TF-80SC Test Drive Schedule, Description
Note! When test driving, the oil temperature must be above 20 °C (68 °F).
If the engine jerks or runs unevenly when a gear is engaged, replace the transmission control system.

Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Restore components and connectors.
- The gear shift position sensor for the transmission must be calibrated if the control module has been disconnected.
- Test drive the vehicle following: Test drive schedule, description, B6304T4, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S5, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S5, TF-80SC, B6324S4, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S4, TF-80SC Test Drive Schedule, Description
Check that the transmission does not display any obvious function faults.
Note! When test driving, the oil temperature must be above 20 °C (68 °F).
Is the function of the transmission OK?
Yes - FAULT FOUND

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit fault-tracing
No - Attempt New Test

Resetting the adaptation and oil quality counter
Resetting adaptation
Resetting the adaptation and the counter for "Transmission oil, replace"
Hint: The transmission has torque-regulated, adaptive pressure regulation. The pressure regulator enables the transmission to regulate pressure during each shift to prevent hard shifting. Each shift is assessed by the transmission control module (TCM) and is stored in the internal memory. This makes it possible to compensate for transmission and clutch wear. It is important that the adaptation in the memory is reset so that the transmission works normally after the repair. Because the fluid was changed during the repair, the counter for transmission fluid change must also be reset. If the counter is not reset during draining/replacement, a diagnostic trouble code may be generated under the wrong conditions.
Note! This applies only if the transmission or one of the components in the transmission have been replaced.
- Ignition on.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol to reset the adaptation and counter.
