Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P081449
Condition
An optic sensor is mounted in the gear selector module (GSM). The sensor is actuated by a control arm connected to the shift lock solenoid. The optic sensor detects the position of the shift lock solenoid. The solenoid is activated when the brake pedal is depressed. At the same time, the optic sensor is deactivated, signalling to the gear selector module (GSM) that the shift lock solenoid is active.
With the ignition off and the gear selector in position P, the gear selector is locked mechanically as a result of the power to the solenoid having been cut. The gear selector is also locked in ignition positions I and 0.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The optic sensor cannot be activated after lever movement from P to R.
- The optic sensor has been active for more than 10 seconds with the gear selector in position D.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- None.
Possible source
- Internal fault in gear selector module (GSM).
Fault symptom[s]
- Text window and warning symbol/Yellow symbol and text message
- Gauges/Gear indicator does not work
- Automatic transmission/No manual gear shift
