Fault tracing
Checking the status
- Start the engine to perform the diagnostic.
Check whether the fault is permanent or intermittent. Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) fault status when the diagnostic status is "Completed".
The fault is permanent if the fault status is "Fault found". The fault is intermittent if the fault status is "No fault found".

Caution! Do not apply rust solvent spray or grease to the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector.
Check the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector (bank 1). Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Try a new heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) if the above fault-tracing does not remedy the fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After repairing, it is necessary to check that the malfunction has been fixed.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Start the engine to perform the diagnosis.
Read off the diagnostic status and trouble status for the diagnostic trouble code.
Check that the diagnosis is "Implemented" and that the trouble status is "No malfunction found". If the trouble status is "Malfunction found", this indicates defective function.
Trouble status shows "No malfunction found"?
Yes - VERIFIED
